About

Vocal shame refers to feeling embarrassed about one’s singing voice due to perceived inadequacies. This shame may stem from technical flaws or perceived shortcomings in the voice’s characteristics such as tone, volume, range, or flexibility. While some aspects can be enhanced through technique development, the fundamental nature of the voice remains unchanged. At its most severe, vocal shame can lead singers to view their voice as worthless and unattractive, hindering their performance and exacerbating technical issues.
